Woodcutting is a gathering skill that primarily involves chopping trees to obtain logs used in the Fletching, Firemaking, and Construction skills. Players with a higher Woodcutting level can chop down new types of trees and cut down trees quicker, especially as higher levels of axes become available.
Woodcutting is one of the few skills that have a designated training spot at the AFK Zone.

Training Woodcutting
Level 1-15: Regular Trees
Players can cut normal trees, which are found at the Skilling Zone as players gain double experience. Uses for logs include Fletching, Firemaking and trading.
Level 15-30: Oak Trees
At level 15 move on to Oak trees, mainly because they give multiple logs per tree and higher experience, making it a easier grind. These can also be found at the Skilling Zone.
Fast Level 30-99: Willow Trees
Willow trees are a good source of experience at lower Woodcutting levels. Good places for chooping them inlcude Barbarian Outpost, north of the bank in Seers' Village and near the Draynor Village shore. Willow trees, while decent at low and medium levels, quickly become outclassed by Ivys after level 68
Slow Level 45-99: Maple Trees
At level 45, players can cut maple trees. These are slow for experience with very ltitle profit and should not be used. Players seeking Firemaking experience should turn to willows
Fastest Level 68-99: Ivys
Ivy requires 68 Woodcutting to cut. It is the quickest and easiest ways to earn Woodcutting experiece. Just like trees, ivy contains a certain amount that can be cut before it is depleted. Cutting ivy does not fill your inventory with any items or logs except for a slight chance of a bird's nest. Therefore, it is not advised to use ivys if you are an Ironman and want to get 99Firemaking or Fletching.
The Ivy's can be found north of the castle in the Skill zone, they grow on the walls.
